I use regular Lowther DX4 (ENABLED) . I don't think the 250-400 is stellar and I'm still waiting for the extension to try small throat for lower midrange (2,75") (B&C 8P21E driver) for 200-1000Hz . Here is Martin's opinion on the ...

What is the purpose of having the flexibility to re-configure from straight to J horn? This thing will be large and massive enough that physically moving it from one configuration to another will be difficult and require a lot of effort. Conceptually...

[quote user="anthony"]Perhaps that GOTO hole centred on about 225Hz is to do with using the incorrect throat in the horn? First thing I would do is extend the profile of that big horn so that it reaches the correct throat size for the GOTO units. I...

[quote user="Horn Savant"] I then tested the two 416's in free air and they were 28 HZ each. Then I tested them in the horn - both drivers driven with signal and measured 23 HZ resonance. Better throat coupling - better than, say, a Shearer or Mirrop...

Jessie,
Perhaps if you search something in the throat jungle you might fish some interesting results. You see, optimizing the driver to throat transition you might get some HF out of upper bass driver. But besides getting more HF there is something ...

Ronnie,
I’m sorry I was not able to detect the clipping you were taking about listening your file. However, if you can hear ANYTHING distorted at 1kHz (when ONLY your upper bass horn is playing) then you might consider the following: it has NOTHING ...

Hello Romy and everyone here, Thanks again for your thoughts on the large horns. It seems best to start a new thread, as previous threads dealing with the "10-Footer" originally began as discussions of other subjects. Romy, you may want to move previ...

[quote user="tuga"]I can't find a/the post(s) where you describe the advantages of using a 4 inch throat. Stereo-lab makes both 4 and 8 inch throat 140Hz horns but I don't think they could make an 8 to 4 inch adapter... [...

I erroneously referred to the 'throat' of the horn as the 'mouth' at the beginning of the response. (Of course, where ever I noted a dimension of 4" or 7" I'm referrering to the throat of the horn--I haven't settled on the exact dimension of th...

They have a 17cm throats so in most cases it is better to get the version with 2" throat for compression drivers, shorten them for the right throat size and build a chamber yourself....

I've only had the pleasure of listening to 'professional' horns (whatever 'professional' really stands for)--horn normally used in concerts and small venues. (It was always so obvious to me--by listening--that the range of the horn-loaded 'bass...

is the compression driver problem not solved by using multiple drivers all feeding into the same, relatively large throat, eg four 2.5 inch drivers into a 5 inch throat? The idea is that sensitivity to reactance will be much less at lower excursions,...

Something they mustve obviously done better than others using beryllium. Judging the sound. In a positive way. The lower 3 are titanium, but all upper 3 are 4/3/2 inch BE sourced from truextend. The suspensenion however is soft and allows excursion.I...

The 4 sections are done. The last one is not glued yet. The reason what we assemble the section and then glue them is because the section have complex 3D geometry with all 4 sides are under specific arc. Yes, that is right – even the side of the horn...
